This original Behind the Music from 2000 chronicles the Bangles, an all-girl, all-American garage band that proved women could carry a guitar as well as a tune. They were four California girls who dreamed of being the Beatles, at a time when rock-n-roll was still strictly a boys club. But the Bangles' sunny harmonies and rock/pop sensibilities earned them hit after 80's hit, skyrocketing them to fame as they sold over 10 million albums and cemented their place in music history. With huge commercial success came an exhausting touring schedule - and eventually conflict, friction and jealousy destroyed the Bangles in 1989. It would be over a decade before the four former friends would play together again, but in 2000 the band reunited, launching a successful tour and happily discovering their harmonious musical bond had survived.
